crafty toddler apron

November 7, 2011

I love this little crafty apron I made for Bailey. It’s leftover oilcloth I used for a change mat before she was born and it was just the right amount to make this apron. (It was a bit confusing for her– when she first saw it she lay it down on the floor and sat on it, thinking it was time for a diaper change!) She has pockets for her paintbrushes/pencils and other art supplies.
I tried to future-proof it so it’s a bit big for now but hopefully it will last a few years. She enjoyed the first use of it with her paints.

I was able to use a pack of quilt binding for the apron that I found in my grandmother’s stash. I love knowing Bailey has a bit of her great-grandmother with her when she wears her art apron (Grandma would have loved this). Although the pack was labelled brown, it was very much black (I am sure Grandma had it for decades so maybe it just changed color).

I look forward to years of Bailey creating in this apple apron!
