union jack bunting

October 3, 2011

Finally, I can share my secret project! My brother became the father of twin girls in May this year. They are beautiful little ladies, I was so excited to make them something long-lasting for their bedroom. I wanted it to be subtly British (since I live in the UK and they are in California) to remind them of my long distance love and it had to be shabby-chic to fit into their adorable bedroom.

So I created bunting with 20 unique union jack flags in light pink and blue. The fabrics are a mixture of Moda Sherbet Pips and Dena Designs Tea Garden fabrics which worked really well and this is definitely my most favorite bunting ever!!

I really wanted to make sure the union jacks weren’t too “loud”, so hopefully this was achieved by mixing the lace, ribbons and fabrics to only hint at the British influence in their arrangement.

I love it, so I’ve added it to my Etsy shop. Have a look: http://www.etsy.com/listing/82233998/shabby-chic-british-union-jack
