I made some good progress this week and even completed one project (although it was a minor project). I am already planning my nights later this week around more sewing… hopefully more to report next week.

36 patch QAL

Wow, I had no idea how intense this quilt-making business was! Oh my! I spent ages just creating one block. One block! I am making a “need to buy” list and a rotary cutter is definitely on the list. I am using Riley Blake fabric for this QAL and although I was aiming for a lap quilt, it may end up as a crib quilt.

This is so beautiful already. Unfortunately I am still awaiting my charm pack so I couldn’t do much more this week. It should arrive tomorrow though!

jelly roll quilt

Just started this project. It’s based on this quilt pattern and I’m using leftovers from the Scruffily Quilt Just Wing It jelly roll.

My photo doesn’t show just how beautiful it is already. I’ve arranged my order for the front and back and the gaps show where white will go. I am so excited and after the QAL patchwork taking so much time (cutting and sewing!) I’m relieved to have a fast project on the go for some faster results.

Whoah… I can’t believe you made that 36-patch without a rotary cutter. That’s impressive! I hope you’re able to get one soon! 🙂

I’m glad to hear a rotary cutter will drastically reduce the time (pain?) of block-creation! I have already spent a small fortune this month on quilt related materials so I promised my husband no more spending this month. Luckily August is quickly approaching so I’ll go bookmark a few rotary cutters and fabric cutting boards to buy on the 1st of the month!
